Aging and Disability Resource Centers initiative started in 2003 through what is now the Administration for Community Living (ACL) and the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS). Understanding that Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) is a very complex system and not easy to navigate, ADRCs were created to serve as a highly visible and trusted resource for information on the full range of long-term services and support options both publicly and privately funded. And the vision is that no one entity can provide this; rather it is a mixture of local, regional and state organizations collaborating together to be this resource.
This initiative has continued to expand until today there are ADRCs in every State and the four US territories. As of April 2014 there are 525 established ADRC programs and growing.
